DIY: Studded Shirt.

My little sister bought 100 studs for $4 last year, and we just found them a few days ago! Don’t you love finding things you forgot you even had? It’s almost like a little present to yourself (:

I decided to stud an oversized light blue button-up shirt I’ve had hanging around in my closet. I was on the verge of getting rid of it, but I knew that studs would be the perfect way to bring the shirt back to life!

[ The boring plain blue shirt. Pick a shirt in your closet that hasn't seen any outside light in a while. ]

[ The tools: 2-prong pyramid studs, a ruler, and a pencil. ]

[ My little sister put the studs in a salt shaker to keep them all together and accessible. You can buy cheap and quality studs here. ]

[ Find which area of the shirt you would like to stud - the collar, pockets, etc. Then use a ruler and pencil to mark out every inch and a half (this depends on the size of your studs). Repeat marks half an inch below your first line. ]

[ Place the top prong into the top hole and the bottom prong in to the bottom hole. Turn cloth over and press the prongs together, enclosing the stud. Repeat until all studs are in. ]

[ And there you have a studded shirt that can compete with all the pricer versions at Zara's and Guess. ]

[ Time to take a step back and admire your handiwork. Pair your shirt with black skinnies and a rockin' pair of heels and you'll be all set to sashay your way around town! ]

Thinking about studding a shirt? Feel free to comment and ask any questions you may have! Don’t forget to post a picture!

Day by Day.

I went and saw “A Summer Day” at the Cherry Lane Theatre yesterday, and it struck a chord with me in several ways. What I really came away with was the idea of an unrealized dream, whether that dream be a person, a thought, a goal, etc. There are times when we don’t say what we mean or don’t even try because we are afraid of the results. We second-guess and come up with a million different reasons not to trust the way we feel, and in the end we ask, “What if?”

I think “What if?” is one of the worst things you can ask yourself. Why not just go? Why not try? Why not do?

This week was all about appreciating the little things for me, whether it be a slice of pie or a shared smile with a stranger.

I’m realizing how differently you see the world when you start trying to really enjoy what is right in front of you.

[ Apple pie and pumpkin pie straight out of the oven for Thanksgiving. So good! ]

[ When did Halls cough drops start giving pep talks? I love it (: ]

[ All of these studs give me so many ideas. Here's a secret: I'm a beast with a glue gun! ]

[ These were on display in the window of a craft store. Love! ]

[ Any man who will bake you cinnamon rolls for breakfast is a keeper. ]

[ The window displays in New York make me even more excited for Christmas. I didn't even think that was possible. ]

What did I learn from this week?

No one is in charge of your happiness except you. When you fall 6 times, get up 7. You will be stronger and happier for it.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Spikes and Studs.

Even though I’m pretty girly, I absolutely love this trend of spikes and studs. I think they add such a fun element to your every day wardrobe and they give each outfit some edge. If you’re not sure how you feel about this trend, throw on a simple studded belt or a few skinny studded leather bracelets. Or if you’re ready to rock out, throw on heeled boots with spikes, or a great statement piece like a studded leather jacket. You can’t go wrong!
