Day by Day Through Instagram.

Tempest Make Up - Melanie Sutrathada

So I finally did it. I got an Instagram. I tried to resist but it was so hard since I absolutely love taking pictures everywhere I go! Therefore, my Day by Days will now feature Instagram pictures on the go. Follow me at msutrathada!

1. I’ve had an amazing time at my first Tribeca Film Festival! I saw a bunch of different films and was so inspired by all of the fantastic acting, projects and community. I’ve decided I’m making it my goal to be in a Tribeca film next year!

2. My best friend, Lauren, was in town and she took me to see “Once”. It was seriously phenomenal and easily the best Broadway show I’ve seen so far!

3. I saw a wedding taking place on 8th Avenue! Funny enough, I saw the bride in the passenger’s seat of a car earlier, and mused outloud to Joe on where she was going.

4. Filmed “Tempest” on Monday. Even though the day was long because I had work before the shoot, I had an amazing time on set. I’m so excited to see the footage!

5. Had a sushi date with Joe at Shenju 3 in Park Slope. Tip: Bento boxes are $7.95 if you get there for their lunch special. Also, their regular sushi rolls are $2.75.

6. Only in New York do you see things like this happening. No words.

All’s Fair in Spring and Manhattan.

I love street fairs. I grew up going to swap meets and flea markets, so street fairs are right up my alley. When I first moved to New York last year, Joe and I somehow stumbled upon one in the heart of the city and then never saw it again. However, while we were out and about in Manhattan today, we found one right on 8th Avenue and 14th St!

Roasted corn on the cob, pretty jewelry and the hum of New Yorkers happily enjoying the beautiful spring day were more than enough to make this day great.

Are you planning on heading to any fun events in New York soon? Leave me a comment – I always love spending a day in the city!

Day by Day: The City That Never Sleeps.

Holy cow, I am worn out! It’s been a wonderful week! I had lunch with a friend who I haven’t seen in atleast four months, found out I’ve been casted for a project that I auditioned for a few weeks ago, ate way too many cheesy biscuits at Red Lobster, saw a hilarious show, and my little sister visited from the West Coast. I also stared at beautiful vintage pearl collars, picked up a few statement pieces, and added a couple staples to my wardrobe. It’s been a great week for friends and fashion.

For one of the first times since I’ve been living in NY, I finally feel like I’m taking advantage of “the city that never sleeps.”

Here is my week in review:

This week really showed me how important it is to enjoy what’s around you. You don’t need to go across the country or around the world to experience something new and exciting. It might actually be in your backyard, or in my case – a subway ride away. The world has so much to offer us if we open our eyes and actually look.

What did this past week show you? I want to hear all about your adventures!

Also, happy Easter!

It was freezing this morning! Joe and I ran out before I went to work to take a few photos, and it had to be less than 30 degrees outside. My nose started to turn pink after about two minutes and we had no choice but to scurry back inside.

On another note, one of the things I’m quickly learning is how easy it is to get stuck in a routine. The alarm goes off at the same time every morning. You put on the same clothes every day for work. You take the same train every morning. It’s easy for your day to feel monotonous when there is a lot of routine.

However, it’s up to you to make it more interesting and fun for yourself. After all, you’re only bored if you’re boring (according to Cole Haan via subway ads). I love jazzing up business attire with fun accessories – be it an amazing Sara Designs wrap watch (which I get a MILLION compliments on every time I wear it) or glittery nail polish that makes typing on a keyboard 10 times more fun.

It’s the little things that not only keep me sane, but also make my day.
