“Life will break you. Nobody can protect you from that, and living alone won’t either, for solitude will also break you with its yearning. You have to love. You have to feel. It is the reason you are here on earth. You are here to risk your heart. You are here to be swallowed up. And when it happens that you are broken, or betrayed, or left, or hurt, or death brushes near, let yourself sit by an apple tree and listen to the apples falling all around you in heaps, wasting their sweetness. Tell yourself you tasted as many as you could.” Louise Erdrich
This was from the Stella Adler Studio of Acting, and was the first thing that came up on my Facebook feed this morning. It honestly came at the perfect time. Graduation is 8 days away and the “real world” is almost here. If you asked me what I would feel like about a week before graduating from college, I would probably say that I thought I would be terrified right now. I’m not though. I’m excited. I’m ecstatic. I feel a million different adjectives. But most of all, I feel ready. There’s nothing like leaving on your own terms, whether it be from a relationship, college, high school, or a job. There’s something genuinely wonderful about looking back and feeling like you honestly did things to the best of your ability. I worked hard these past four years, and I never compromised who I am. I didn’t step on anyone to get what I wanted. I really put everything I could in to everything I did, and I am so proud.

If I could give one piece of advice to you, it would be: Shine. Don’t be afraid. You can do anything you want to do, and be anyone you want. Life is too short to be living someone else’s dream.
