With balancing a full-time marketing and social media job, volunteering for a non-profit, going on auditions and blogging, there’s a lot of juggling (not real juggling because that would just be embarrassing), reading of LifeHack articles in the quest for ultimate efficiency, and running around that happens. That being said, here are 3 things that are making my life easier right now.
1. Sabra’s Supremely Spicy Hummus. This is like crack. Not that I would know what crack is really like. But the actor in me is good at imagining, so I think the comparison works. This has been my favorite snack for the past week and I’ve been obsessed with it! Served with pita chips and a few slices of salami, this hummus has my mouth watering even as I type. It’s legitimately difficult not to just start drooling over the keyboard as I think about it. Maybe I shouldn’t keep that last sentence in this post so I don’t sound like such a food-obsessed crazy person. Eh, deleting it would be too much effort. Ain’t nobody got time for that.
2. Crossroads Trading Co.’s Sell By Mail option. I did spring cleaning with Crossroads a few months ago, but another pile of things that need to be donated and sold is living at the bottom of my teensy closet. I’ve been meaning to take them all in to Crossroads, but don’t have the energy or willpower to a) carry everything on my commute and get dirty looks from everyone who is trying to cram into the train during rush hour and b) experience the buyer’s remorse of pieces that I bought and loved originally but realized didn’t fit or looked bizarre on me. All you have to do for this awesome new option is request a free (yes, I just wrote free) pre-paid shipping bag via the Crossroads website and they’ll send it to you within 4-6 business days. They pay 35% cash or 50% trade credit of what they would price each item for and what makes it even better is that they can donate what they don’t buy or return it for an additional fee. I ordered my bag today and I’m excited to fill it up with goodies/see my closet floor again!
3. Exercising first thing in the morning. I started doing it recently and I already feel ten times more energized. Most days I leave the apartment at 8am and don’t get back home until around 10pm, so getting exercise in is really difficult. Coming from a dance background and overall just living a pretty active lifestyle, sitting behind a desk all day is definitely taking it’s toll. Therefore, although morning runs make me want to weep a little (or a lot if we’re really being honest), I feel better knowing that I’m getting the day started off on the right foot and getting some much-needed exercise. If you’re hesitant to do morning workouts like I was (or still sort of am actually), try it for a few days and gage how it makes you feel. I lay my workout clothes out before I go to bed so I can sleepily stumble into them once my alarm goes off. It makes actually getting out the door for my workout so much easier and also simultaneously makes me feel guilty if I don’t change into them. Win-win!
What have you been doing lately that’s making your life easier? I’d love to hear your tips and tricks!
